The Golden Vanity under construction in my parents' yard in August of 1967.
My mother christens the Golden Vanity at launch, November 1, 1967.
The Golden Vanity sits docked at an abandoned military landing in Kawaihae, Hawaii in the summer of 1969.
The Golden Vanity endures hurricane-force "Waimea" winds while still docked in Kawaihae. The winds are so strong that white-caps have formed in the 1/4 mile span of the harbor. In the background, at the far right, between the two bollards, sticking up at an angle is the mast of the boat described in my poem The Wreck of the Halbredier. The weather pictured is as described in the poem as well.
